Questions, answered
And if yours isn't here, just ask — we reply to everything, usually the same day.
How long does an order take?
Everything is made to order, so plan on about one week from when you order to when it ships. Group sets of four or more take two to three weeks. If you need something faster, message us before ordering — sometimes we can, and we'd rather tell you honestly than miss your trip.
Do you ship free?
Yes — free shipping anywhere in the United States, on every order, with no minimum. Everything ships from Kissimmee, Florida.
Will these give me a headache?
That's the main thing we design against. Every pair uses foam batting over a lightweight headband with velvet trim on the underside, rather than the hard plastic bands most park ears use. They're built to stay comfortable from rope drop to fireworks. If a pair ever isn't comfortable, tell us — we want to know.
Do they stay on?
Yes, without needing bobby pins or extra support. The velvet trim on the underside grips gently rather than sliding, which is the same thing that makes them comfortable.
How do the light-up ones work?
Fairy lights are sewn into the bow itself, powered by a button battery in a small fabric flap tucked behind it. The switch sits right where your thumb naturally lands. The battery is already installed when it arrives, so it works out of the box, and replacements are standard drugstore button batteries.
Can I wear light-up ears on a water ride?
Please don't. They're splash-resistant — a Florida afternoon shower is fine — but they are not waterproof and a soaking will kill the lights. See the care guide for battery and storage advice.
Can you make a custom pair?
Yes, and it's our favourite kind of order. Any character, colour palette, occasion or theme. Fill in the custom form with the idea and you'll get fabric suggestions, a mock-up and a firm price within a day or two. No deposit until you approve it.
How much do custom pairs cost?
Most land between $45 and $75 depending on how involved the build is. A colour change to an existing design is at the lower end; a sculpted face with hand-set crystals and built-in lights is at the upper end. You always see a firm price before committing.
Do you make matching sets?
Constantly — bridal parties, families, group costumes. And it genuinely matters that they're made together: fabric is dyed in batches, so pairs ordered weeks apart can be visibly different shades side by side. More on group orders.
Do you make child sizes?
Yes, and matching adult-and-child sets are one of the most requested things we make. Just note the sizes on the custom form.
Can I change the colour of a design I've seen?
Usually, yes, and often at no extra cost. Message before ordering. Several designs already have alternative base colours in stock — light blue, purple and baby pink velvet.
What are they made from?
Plain, unbranded fabrics: velvet, crushed velvet, sequin fabric, satin, faux fur, sherpa, felt and jersey, over foam batting on a lightweight headband, finished with velvet trim. Crystals, pearls and appliqués are set by hand. No licensed or character-printed fabric is used.
How do I clean them?
Spot clean only, with a barely damp cloth and no soap, then let them air dry completely. Never put them in a washing machine — sequins and glued detail won't survive it. Store them somewhere they won't get crushed; a shelf beats a drawer. There is a lot more in the full care guide, including what to do by material and how to look after the light-up pairs.
Do you accept returns?
Because every pair is made to order, we don't take returns or exchanges as a rule. But if something arrives damaged, isn't what you approved, or has a problem of any kind, message us — we've always sorted it out and we always will.
Where do I actually buy them?
Checkout runs through our Etsy shop, which handles payment, tracking and buyer protection. Custom orders start with the form here and we invoice through Etsy once the design is approved.
Are you affiliated with any theme park or film studio?
No. Cluless Designs is an independent small business with no affiliation to, endorsement from, or connection with The Walt Disney Company or any other brand owner. Everything is an original handmade design inspired by themes, colours and aesthetics.
Have something in mind we haven't made yet?
That's our favourite kind of order. Tell us the idea — a character, a colour palette, a wedding, a birthday, a trip you've been planning for two years — and we'll design it from scratch.
